I know you have to use the saying of kiss keep it simple stupid...lol at least that's how I do it. The hard part is saying something meaningful that fast. I love haiku just for he simplicity... my first haiku was when I was 5 and it was about my grandma's chicken and dumplings... hehehe
Thank you! No, hardly ever. I sometimes get a nice line that would be good for a haiku, but I never seem to get the syllables right... normally, I just do free verse, or when I'm feeling ambitious, a sestina. If I remember correctly, the last time I really wrote a haiku was in third grade, during the poetry project, haha....
A sestina is a longer poem of six stanzas, where each line ends with a specific word. What you do is choose six words, and then write the lines with the patterns ABCDEF FAEBDC CFDABE ECBFAD DAECFB BCFEDA
It's kind of time consuming, but I really enjoy it. (If you want an example, there's a sestina poem in my gallery called "Black and White, Blood and Wine")
